The MVC at 228 Frelinghuysen Avenue does not handle title or registration transactions. People drive over there with a title problem and get turned around. For title work, the closest vehicle centers to Newark are East Orange at 183 South 18th Street, Jersey City at 438 Summit Avenue, and Springfield on Route 22. Most title transactions there are appointment-only, so book before you go.

Is the catalytic converter worth anything?

Yes, usually more than any other single part on a junk car. It's also the thing people don't think to mention. If yours was stolen off the car in a parking lot — which happens plenty around here — tell us when you call. It doesn't stop us buying the car, it just changes the number. What we won't do is quote you high, show up, find it gone, and drop the price at your curb. That's the game we're built to not play.

What if my car is in an impound lot in Newark?
